Ivy League PhD
I have an Ivy League PhD in Religious Studies (Penn), and have done classroom teaching in most areas of Religion from Bible, to Religions of East Asia, to Women in Religion. I have also taught Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic. I have been doing private tutoring for several years in various areas of the humanities. I try to customize the experience to the student's needs as much as is possible. I never go into working with a student with a set agenda, although I may develop one as time progre...
Pascal
I have a BS in "Computer Software" (meaning programming rather than hardware design). Most of my work for the BS was actually done at the Graduate level, which makes me eligible to teach CompSci at the college level according to most accrediting organizations. I have, in fact done so at five different colleges. Pascal was the language of choice when I was learning to program, so I had to learn it, and used it for many years until I switched to C++ and Java. It is a much better language than C for basic programming training, but lacks a standardized object oriented implementation.

I have a BS in "Computer Software" (meaning programming rather than hardware design). Most of my work for the BS was actually done at the Graduate level, which makes me eligible to teach college CompSci according to most accrediting organizations. I have, in fact done so at five different colleges. I have taught a general intro to computers at three colleges, and intro to HTML, as well as programming C(++) & Java at at two.

I was "programming coordinator" at Penn working in the "Center for the Computer Analysis of Texts" (meaning that I was both programmer and supervisor of other programmers). I also worked as an independent contractor for several companies and have designed several successful web sites.
web design
I taught web design and development at the University of Pennsylvania and at Albright College. I have maintained a presence on the web for more than 20 years. I have also taught Java (a programming language often used in web pages).

college counseling
I have a doctorate in the humanities (Religious Studies) and taught college for over 25 years. I have counseled many college students on grad school choices and worked with various high school students on college prep and the application process.

study skills
After earning four college degrees, I have, I think, learned how to study. More to the point, I have taken courses in how to teach study skills, and taught at the college level for many years. Students don't all learn in the same ways, and often need their learning process directed into the areas where they learn best, although this is not always possible. In any case, working with students one-on-one is the best way to keep them focused, and the best way to discover their strengths and weaknesses.

elementary math
I have a BS in Computer Science, which includes a fair amount of Math training. I should be able to help with basic skills. I was also a college teacher, but I can work, and have worked, with younger students as well.
GED
SAT reading
I have worked successfully with High School students preparing for the SAT in both reading and writing. I am also a published author.
world history
proofreading
I have proofread scholarly books, theses, dissertations, and college papers, often by writers for whom English was not a first language. It is a good skill to have, but more importantly, perhaps, it is a good thing to realize you need others to do for you. I am a published author (one book, several articles) and wish I had had someone else proof my own book. It is somehow much harder to see your own errors, because you know what you meant to say! Developing proofing skills will also also help in preparation for the verbal parts of the SAT, GRE, etc.

writing
I am a published author (one book, several articles) and part-time poet (songwriter). I have been tutoring students for a couple of years now in essay and paper preparation for High School and College. If you are doing fiction, I would probably not be your long-term choice, but I have also taught a 'Religion and Literature' course on several occasions so you might find a few hours with me useful.

English
HTML
Microsoft Excel
I have taught Excel at the college level as a component in intro to computing and intro to MS Office classes.
grammar
I am a published author (one book, several articles). I have also studied Greek and Latin which, strangely, helps with understanding English grammar. Although it is not my primary field, I have taught college classes that included grammar as a significant part of the course. I have done private tutoring in this area as well, mostly (although not exclusively) with students for whom English is not a first language.

American history
vocabulary
I am not an ambulatory lexicon (walking dictionary), but I am a published author and I have helped others in this area preparing for the SAT, or just for success in general. I deduce that I could be of assistance to others as well.
